"Immunoblasts" and "immunocytes"--an attempt at a functional nomenclature.

چکیده
D URING the past twenty years, it has come to be realized that antibodies are produced in a cell complex which has become popularly known by the rather unwieldy term of “immunologically competent cells.” This complex consists not only of reticulum cells, which were the first to be generally considered as antibody producers, but of lymphocytes and plasmocytes as well. The role of the plasmocyte in tile production of 7 S gamma globulins, which are readily detectable in the serum ( i.e., humoral antibodies ) , is well substantiated. As for the lymphocyte, there is as yet very little evidence showing that this cell is either a secretory cell like the plasmocyte, or has a gamma globulin connected with it that can be detected by usual or unusual means. On the other hand, ample evidence is at hand indicating that lymphoid cells participate in the immunologic phenomena of delayed hyper-

The term "Silk Road" was first used in 1876 AD (1292 AH. / 1254 ASH.) by a German geographer and tourist during his travel to China. Richthofen chose this name for the vast network of roads connecting Asia and Europe, from the China Sea to Central and Western Asia, especially the Iranian plateau, and Anatolia to the Mediterranean coast. This nomenclature was influenced by several circumstances ...
متن کاملImmunoblastic sarcoma and rheumatoid arthritis.
Introduction Immunoblast was the name proposed by Dameshek in 1963 to describe an antigenically "switched on" or transformed lymphocyte. Band T immunoblasts develop when the corresponding small resting lymphocyte is stimulated. The B immunoblasts further mature into plasma cells and both have been shown to produce antibodies after antigen stimulation• Lukes and CoIlins 4, by correlating immunol...

متن کاملIdeational Grammatical Metaphor in Merry Shelly’s Frankenstein and its Cinematic Adaptation
Within Systemic Functional Linguistics, Grammatical Metaphor (GM) is a meaning-making resource lying at the experiential level that extends the meaning potential through cross-stratal re-mappings between the grammar and the semantics, boiling down, in one of its manifestations to expressing something that should have been a process (verb) in terms of a thing (noun). This study is an attempt at ...
